Gurkha G2G Talks: Demand for Equal Pension Submitted to the Veterans Minister at the Ministry of Defence
London, 16 December 2025 — Retired British Gurkha soldiers and their families have submitted their demands related to pensions to Veterans Minister Louise Sandher-Jones at the UK Ministry of Defence.
In the presence of Bipin Duwadi, Acting Ambassador of Nepal to the UK, representatives of former Gurkhas from the G10 Group—Major Judbahadur Gurung, Major Tikendra Dal Dewan, Major Udaybahadur Gurung, and Pushpa Rana Ghale—presented their pension-related demands during talks with the Minister at the Ministry of Defence.
This marked the first ministerial-level discussion on the Gurkha issue since 27 March 2024. Prior to this, over the past four years and three months, there had been dozens of meetings at the technical level and around half a dozen ministerial-level talks.
Following the meeting with the Veterans Minister, former Gurkha representatives and diplomats from the Nepal Embassy in London held discussions at the embassy on future strategy, according to GESO Vice-Chairman Dharma Bahadur Tamang, who was among the participants. Various organisations and groups representing former Gurkhas have been brought together under Group 10, which has been continuously engaged in talks and dialogue for the past half decade. Direct talks between the Government of Nepal and the British Government are referred to as G2G (Government-to-Government) talks.
