London: An interaction program with Professor Marohang Khawahang on the topic of the Mundhum Matriarchy & Yakthung Civilization Matriarchal Social System was successfully held on July 19, 2026, in Ashford Town, near London.
The interaction focused on the subject matter covered in his theorized book Delinking, Relinking, and Linking, as well as the topics to be included in his upcoming book. He shared insights regarding the field research tour conducted by Himalayan Indigenous Studies (HIAS) in Assam and around the Tamor River in Eastern Nepal, highlighting the Mundhums discovered during the study. He stated that the Limbu people refer to themselves as Yakthung, and that the Mundhum and the Mundhum lifestyle practiced by the Yakthungs are entirely unique in the world, emphasizing that life itself resides within the Mundhum.
The program also marked the release of the Nepali translation of the book theorized by Professor Khawahang. Coordinated by the Yuma Samyo Mahasabha UK, the first phase of the event was conducted by Chandra Gopal Chemjong ‘Lahang,’ while the question-and-answer session during the interaction was moderated by HIAS member Narendra Mabohang. Another HIAS member, Lokendra Tabebung, also addressed the questions raised during the session. Professor Khawahang arrived in London as part of his tour from the United States.
Professor Khawahang, who teaches at Michigan State University in the United States, shared that he has been dedicated to this study and research for the past decade. The event, chaired by UK Mahasabha President Dil Palungwa, saw a large number of participants. Among the attendees, more than a dozen individuals raised questions related to the Mundhum.
