141st Birth Anniversary of National Luminary Mahaguru Falgunanda Celebrated Grandly in the UK

Oxford, United Kingdom – The Kirat Religion and Literature Promotion Association, National Committee UK, celebrated the 141st birth anniversary of National Luminary Mahaguru Falgunanda Lingden on 16th November in Oxford. The event was held in honour of Mahaguru Falgunanda, the reformer, spiritual leader, and restorer of Kirat philosophy.

The programme began early in the morning with a traditional Sewa Puja led by Chief Sevasaba Sangdanggen Varumsaba Mangalsingh Lingden. After completing the worship of the outer deities (Kudapakui), the inner deities were worshipped. Association Chair Rajendra Khimdhing lit the sacred Mujotlung lamp to officially begin the rituals. All Sevasabas, Sevasamas and other ceremonial leaders recited the traditional Mundhum, completing the morning worship.

After the puja, the formal celebration was held in the afternoon under the chairmanship of Rajendra Khimdhing. The event was conducted by Association General Secretary Parbat Rai. Vice-Chair and Programme Coordinator Nanda Chemjong delivered the welcome speech, while Joint Treasurer Kumud Nembang presented a brief biography of Mahaguru Falgunanda.

The chief guest, Sanjok Rai, Second Secretary at the Embassy of Nepal in London, expressed his best wishes. He noted that although Nepal currently has no ambassador appointed to the UK, the embassy remains committed to supporting community organisations and their activities.

Special Guest D.L. Iman Manawor Hussain (Deputy Lieutenant Imam Manawor Husen MBE), President of the Federation of Nepali Journalists UK Bimala Sene, and President of Kirat Yakthung Chumlung UK Kamala Sendang highlighted Mahaguru Falgunanda’s teachings on world peace and human unity. They stated that following his guidance would help promote harmony and peace globally.

The event featured various cultural performances, including group dances by the Manglang Group led by Gyanu Furumbo, and the Langdak Sewaro Group led by Gyan Jabegu. gurung Association (Tamudhi) Oxfordshire also presented traditional dances, while Bhoj Kumari Rai and her team performed the Sakela dance. Nepal-based artist D.B. Limbu added further charm to the event with his Palam and Hakpare singing.

The programme saw the presence of many community leaders and representatives, including Mr Lawrence (Patron Member of Gorkha Nepali Society Oxfordshire), NRN UK General Secretary Jurendra Khajum, Ret. lieutenant Mr Lory Mitcheall, Gorkha Nepali Society Oxford Chair Krishna Fembo, Tamudhi Society Oxford Chair Sanjay Gurung, Nepali Society Oxfordshire Chair Deepa Thapa, and founding Chair of the Kirat Religion and Literature Promotion Association UK Ram Kumar Singthebe. Devotees and well-wishers from various cities across the UK attended in traditional Kirati attire, making the celebration vibrant and culturally rich.
