To mark the 32nd International Day of the World’s Indigenous Peoples, the Nepal Federation of Indigenous Nationalities (NEFIN) UK is organising an Indigenous Fair featuring a variety of cultural displays, sports competitions, and entertainment programmes.
The fair will be held on 8 August at Kirat Gamberland, near Aldershot, England. The event will feature a volleyball tournament, colourful cultural processions representing Nepal’s diverse Indigenous communities, and live performances by renowned artists visiting from Nepal.
NEFIN UK currently has 13 affiliated Indigenous ethnic organisations. The federation also organised an Indigenous Fair last year, and as this year’s event marks the second edition, organisers are expecting an even greater level of public participation.
NEFIN UK Chairperson Yogesh Koyu Rai said that preparations for the fair are being carried out on a much larger scale than last year to ensure a successful and memorable event. He also extended an open invitation to everyone to attend and take part in the celebration.
The Nepal Federation of Indigenous Nationalities (NEFIN) UK was established in 2009. International Day of the World’s Indigenous Peoples is observed annually on 9 August across the globe to recognise and celebrate the cultures, rights, contributions, and heritage of Indigenous peoples worldwide.
