London – On 24th August 2025, the 16th Nepali Mela was successfully held at Kempton Park, London. The event was organized by Tamu Dhee UK in collaboration with the Embassy of Nepal in London.
Kulman Ghising, the campaigner of Ujyalo Nepal Abhiyan (Bright Nepal Campaign), remarked that the Nepali Mela represents the spirit of the national anthem “Sayaun Thunga Phoolka Haami Eutai Maala Nepali” (Hundreds of flowers, we are one garland, Nepali).
A total of 44 Nepali organizations from across the UK showcased cultural tableaux and dances. The tableaux reflected the traditional attire, music, dance, and culture of various ethnic groups of Nepal. Thousands of spectators attended the event, where more than ninety stalls featured Nepali cuisine, charity works, and business products.
Pasa Puchah Guthi UK delivered outstanding performances in both tableaux and dance, winning the Ambassador’s Cup along with a prize of £1,100. Magar Association UK and Kirat Yakthung Chumlung UK were also among the award winners.
In the grand cultural dance competition featuring 40 dancers, Pasa Puchah Guthi UK secured first place with the traditional Ghintang Ghisi (a stick-fighting dance), followed by Tanahun Society UK in second place and Kirat Yakthung Chumlung UK in third.
The formal session of the 16th Nepali Mela was chaired by Jumkaji Gurung, with General Secretary Dr. Bishal Gurung conducting the program. The cultural segment was coordinated by Surya Gurung, Durga Gurung, Yogesh Gurung, and others.
