TEHRAN, Dec. 8 (Xinhua):
ranian President Ebrahim Raisi said on Thursday that talks on an immediate halt to Israeli attacks on Gaza would be high on the agenda during his trip to Russia.
Raisi made the remarks in an address to reporters before leaving Tehran for the Russian capital Moscow on a visit at the invitation of his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin, according to a statement published on the website of his office.
The Iranian president added that his visit was also aimed at exchanging views on the necessity to lift the siege of Gaza, increase humanitarian aid delivery to people in the coastal enclave, and safeguard the Palestinians’ “inalienable” rights, stressing that Iran had held consultations with other countries on these issues.
Holding consultations on the expansion of political, economic, trade, cultural and scientific relations and cooperation with Russia is also on the agenda of his visit, Raisi said.
The Iranian president stressed that both countries held similar positions on peace and stability in the regional and transregional issues and fight against unilateralism.
He said organizations, including the Eurasian Economic Union, Shanghai Cooperation Organization and BRICS, had prepared the ground for Iran and Russia to improve bilateral ties as well as their relations with other regional and like-minded countries based on multilateralism.
The deadly conflict between the Palestinian Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) and Israel enters the third month on Thursday, which has left 17,177 Palestinians dead, while on the Israeli side, around 1,200 lost lives, most of whom were killed at the start of the conflict, according to the official statistics.
