Film-makers and actors are exploited by film distributors and movie hall owners.

Ashford, Kent.
14 Sep, Janak Deep Parajuli, President of the film directors guild of Nepal, said that film distributors and film hall owners are exploiting Nepali filmmakers and actors.

President Parajuli recently arrived in London from Nepal to participate in the red carpet screening of the Gurkha Warivar film, which was held in London. Similarly, the society’s general secretary, Arun Kumar Pradhan, said that there is a challenge for the Nepali cinema world as Hindi cinema occupies about 60 per cent of the space in Nepal. However, the provincial president of the Indigenous Film Association, Jyotiraj Rai, said that the Nepali film halls are running only because of Nepali cinema.

About two dozen renowned directors, producers and actors came to London last week for the red-carpet screening of the Gorkha Warrior film. The Directors Society has also formed a UK branch among the Nepalese community in the UK to work in the film sector.

President Parajuli has told todayPress.com that it is necessary to work on the Nepali government’s policy-making to reform and develop the Nepali film industry. They are returning to Kathmandu in the third week of September 023.
