Grand Success of Federation of Indigenous Nationalities UK Charity Dinner

Indigenous Fair to be Held on August 9

On July 6, 2025, the Nepal Federation of Indigenous Nationalities UK (NEFIN-UK) successfully organized its NEFIN Charity Dinner.

The event took place at the Empire Banquet in Aldershot, a town near London known both for its significant Nepali community and its status as the “capital” of the British Army.

As the chief guest, His Excellency Chandra Kumar Ghimire, Nepal’s Ambassador to the UK, emphasized that Nepalis in the UK should work with honesty and loyalty and that the younger generation should also actively participate in the political sphere of the UK.

The special guest, Biswasdip Tigela, Vice President of the Non-Resident Nepali Association (NRNA) International Coordination Council, said that the NRNA serves as the primary representative body for Nepalis abroad and is continuously raising its voice for the rights, welfare, and interests of Nepalis both overseas and in the UK. He stated that the disputes within the NRNA were resolved following the Unity Convention held from May 3–5, 2025. He also noted that the NRNA has been established in over 91 countries worldwide and that this is currently the time when most National Coordination Councils are holding their conventions. He added that the new leadership is working to include everyone and move forward collectively.

Bhakta Dura, former Secretary of the Federal Council of the Nepal Federation of Indigenous Nationalities, and Prem Gaha Magar, President of NRNA UK, also conveyed their best wishes during the event.

Retired Major Yogesh Koyu, President of the Nepal Federation of Indigenous Nationalities UK, highlighted the 12 ethnic upliftment organizations affiliated with the federation and shared that an Indigenous Fair will be held on August 9 and 10. He also revealed future plans for the federation to purchase land in the UK.

The event was conducted by General Secretary Faram Bahadur Dura, while the second segment of the program was hosted by Akash Sunuwar. Approximately half a dozen outstanding artists visiting the UK from Nepal performed at the event. Performers included Sahima Shrestha, Parvati Gurung, Bhumika Shah, Nitu Pun Magar, Yuvraj Magar, Januka Rai, Arusi Magar, and 82-year-old Captain Bir Bahadur Gaha.

The coordinator of the Charity Dinner Night, Retired Major Indra Rai, expressed gratitude for the successful fundraising and thanked all the ethnic upliftment organizations for their support.

Organizations affiliated with the Nepal Federation of Indigenous Nationalities UK include Kirat Yakthung Chumlung, Kirat Rai Yayokkha, Kirat Yakkha Chumma, Kirat Sunuwar Society, Tamu Dhee, Magar Association UK, Dura Service Society, Chantyal Service Society, Sherpa Association, Tamang Association, Pasapuchhi Guthi, Topkegola Organization, among others. Sister organizations include the Nepal Indigenous Women’s Federation and the Nepal Indigenous Journalists Federation UK.

The federation was established in 2009. At present, Nepal Indigenous United is also working closely with the federation.
