NRNA Literary Symposium Successfully Concluded

Kathmandu, October 9, 2025 – In collaboration with the Language and Literature Committee of the Non-Resident Nepali Association (NRNA), International Coordination Council, and the Nepal Academy, a literary symposium and multilingual recitation program was successfully held.
The program was organized to mark the 22nd anniversary of the NRNA’s establishment. The event took place at the Devkota Hall of the Nepal Academy, where 57 poets participated, among whom 25 recited poems in their mother tongues. The symposium was jointly inaugurated by the Chief Guest, Chancellor Bhupal Rai, and Special Guest, NRNA ICC President Mahesh Kumar Shrestha, by lighting a traditional lamp. Chief Guest Rai remarked that by embracing all languages, the program truly reflected the authentic face of Nepal.
Member Secretary of the Nepal Academy, Dr. Dhan Prasad Subedi, welcomed all participants. Similarly, Special Guest President Shrestha expressed that Nepalis must remain sensitive about language issues and voiced concern that many Nepali children growing up abroad are gradually forgetting their native languages and literature. The event was also addressed by former NRNA General Secretary Janaki Gurung, Head of the Mother Tongue Department Rajan Mukarung, and NRNA Women Coordinator Rashmi Kali Thapa.
Among the participating poets were: Bishal Nalbo, Mythoj Sunuwar, Mim Bahadur Pariyar, Sojho Gaule, Ramesh Poudel, Bimala Tumkhewa, Sirjana Sarokar, Manoj Nyaupane, Maniraj Singh, Anju Rajbanshi, Om Krishna Shrestha, Jagat Bashistha, Janak Rasik, Ganesh Wambule Rai, Dambar Thami, Nishes Angdembe, Padam Walahang Rai, Pemba Gelu Sherpa, Bhumika Tharu, Rakesh Bahadur Budhamagar, Jog Bahadur Budhamagar, Sharmila Rana Tharu, Shova Sunuwar, Rachana Moktan, Sneha Jha, Alok Tiwari, Manu Thadamagar, Mani Lohani, Sandhya Pahadi, Devendra Khapung, Sita Tumkhewa, Radhika Kalpit, Bijay Hitan, Govindaman Singh Karki, Tirtha Raj Bhatt, Yog Raj Rajan, Ritesh Tripathi, Bimala Gurung, Pragati Rai, Prakriti Tharu, Shilakha Wambule, Janardan Adhikari, Rabindra Aashish, Jayas Jaya, Sangeeta Kali, Shashishree Acharya, Chetanath Dhamala, Shani Limbu, Uttam Tumsa, Swapnil Smriti, Sunil Angbo, Mira Shrestha, Jamuna Poudel, Karna Dayal, Rashmi Rimal, Sushila Ninamma Rai, Pratap Singh Nachhiring, Niranti Tumbapo, Deepa Loksom, among others. Meanwhile, Dolma Sherpa, Dashiram Tharu, Parshuram Tharu, Muktibabu Regmi, and Prayas Bantawa contributed through media support.
The program was chaired by NRNA ICC Vice President and Coordinator of the Language and Literature Committee, Biswasdip Tigela, while it was conducted by Amit Thebe, member of the Language and Literature Committee.
