The world-famous Little Buddha, Ram Bahadur Bamjan, was found to have committed an offense against a girl by the Sarlahi Court.

Kathmandu,
Barhathwa Sarlahi, June 24, 2024: Ram Bahadur Bamjan, known nationally and internationally as Little Buddha, has been found guilty of committing an offense against a girl by the Sarlahi District Court.

On June 24, 2024, the bench of Sarlahi District Court Judge Jeevan Kumar Bhandari found Bamjan guilty of ‘obtaining sexual gratification and child sexual exploitation’. According to the prosecution submitted by the public prosecutor’s office, Bamjan was found guilty by the court, according to the Srestedar House officer. “Today’s bench has found Bamjan to have committed a crime against the girl,” he said. “The decision on the punishment will be made by the bench on July 1.”

Bamjan is currently in Mahottari Jail pending trial. Before the verdict, the lawyers from both sides presented their final arguments in today’s court. In the debate, senior advocate Sitaram KC, advocate Ram Ghimire, Manohar Jha, Rashtra Vimochan Timalsina, and Dilip Jha argued in favor of Bamjan.

Kailash Dahal, Chief District Attorney of the District Public Prosecutor’s Office, Malangwa, argued for a prison sentence as per the indictment. The victim’s family filed a complaint against Bamjan, a 30-year-old resident of Nijgarh Municipality-12 in Bara District, on March 23, 2076, at the District Police Office, Malangwa. On January 11, 2023, the bench of Judge Bishnu Prasad Regmi ordered Bamjan to be sent to prison for preliminary investigation. Little Buddha Bamjan has been in prison for a long time.

It is worth noting that a weekly yoga camp of the Hindu religion was conducted in Lumbini, the holy land where Lord Buddha was born, and last year a Hindu Purana reading program was held in Lumbini. A few years ago, the statue of Buddha was also vandalized in Kakrevihar. The government of Nepal, which has a majority of Hindus, has made the sacred places of Lumbini and Buddhist gurus and devotees feel insecure.
